Earth processes itself, the solar process and how many others are nested within, within, within and we are that. The heart always is the whole. It’s the whole process and yet it takes on the colorations of the individual in order to communicate with it and get a reciprocal interaction going. So the heart is both me and the totality. Fields are activities in which we can pour our interest in and in return we get information from that field. It’s a reciprocal interaction between individual and what we call a field. The whole is always found within any of its parts. I am both this individual, isolated, sniveling, scared little part and at the same time I’m also the whole. It’s impossible not to be. We look at the whole business, the realms of torus activity coming out of the heart, etc., and then you find that also probably what’s underlying the atom and the molecule and then all we know is the Earth process itself and that also is the solar process and how many other within, within, within. And the individual is always the expression of the total but in an individual way so that you can have reciprocal interaction between individual and whole. The heart always is the whole. It’s the whole process and yet it takes on the colorations of the individual in order to communicate with it and get a reciprocal interaction going. So the heart is both me and the totality. I am that but as part relating to whole from here. From the heart I’m that as the whole relating to the individual part up here. Still that reciprocal interacts. That to me takes my breath away. To me that’s a tremendously exciting kind of a thing. When I say I don’t like to look at these film or here myself is because I have the feeling in it in every case that I betrayed my subject. It’s much, much too much for me. So no matter how many times I try to explain this I always finish up with the group feeling that I’ve been weighed and found wanting.
The word “field” has so many different applications. I speak of the field of medicine, the field of architecture, this field and that field and on and on as activities in which we can pour our interest in and in return we get information from that field. So it’s a reciprocal interaction between individual and what we call a field. What is the field of medicine? It’s the whole history of those who ever tempted to practice medicine that apparently collects through resonance. You can’t say it’s an energy. That’s a misuse of the term energy. Paul McClain speaking of the brain really functioning by resonance, things which are resonant with its neural structures, again you have this field effect, a collection of resonances, of everything that has ever been done in the realm of medicine will resonate with the collective ideas about that. Now that’s concretizing a purely fluid thing called thought process or the human response and yet that seems to happen. We find periods of intense activity in music for instance tend to produce the great geniuses in music. They don’t arise out of the desert. A group of veterans, not that there’s anything with the veterans, but the field of music has created a field into which all music efforts are in reciprocal. The field of mathematics and so on the very same way. How a gardener, Harvard University’s Aguste, honored great child psychologist and he certainly is, came out with this frames of mind and what we think of these fields of pursuit; mathematics, language, etc., etc., that we have to learn he said are really innate within us as potential capacities. Were this the case then the ability to unfold those fields should be far simpler than it is. What he was proposing is the same thing in a much more limited way than the great Rudolph Steiner is talking about. Steiner talked about Akashic records which are available to us all. Part of that real make up but we get locked into a very small, small fragmented sector of this enormous incredible thing. So we create fields all the time. The field of, the physics of electricity for instance, is a comparative really recent field of endeavor. We had no words for this, we have no language for these processes, up until recent times. Then we come up with language for it. We come up with speculations about it, experiments with it, finally you have a field event with which we can reciprocity interact and all sorts of things can happen. So a creation of fields of shared interests and participation is an integral part of the human experience.
